Where Ancient Elegance Meets Modern Comfort
Back in 2008, our founder Catherine Moreau stood at this very spot – just a patch of untouched mountain land – and imagined something different. Not another cookie-cutter resort, but a place where you'd actually want to unplug and breathe.
She'd spent years traveling through Europe's historic spa towns and Asia's wellness retreats, always thinking "why can't we have this in Whistler?" So she made it happen.
The name? That's got a story too. "Aetheron" comes from the ancient concept of pure mountain air, "Forge" represents the craftsmanship we put into everything, and "Quinth" is actually Catherine's grandmother's maiden name – a nod to the woman who taught her that hospitality is really just treating folks like family.
- Catherine Moreau, Founder
Catherine buys the land after her 17th trip to scout locations. Everyone said she was crazy building up here, but she saw what they couldn't.
Construction begins with a team of local craftsmen who understood the assignment – blend into the mountain, don't fight it.
We opened our doors with 28 rooms and a spa that locals still talk about. That first year was... let's just say we learned a lot about running a hotel.
Added the west wing with 14 more suites and our signature restaurant. Chef Marcus joined us that year – dude's a genius with local ingredients.
Named one of Canada's top wellness retreats. We're not gonna lie, we framed that magazine cover and it's hanging in the lobby.
Went carbon-neutral with geothermal heating and our own water filtration system. Catherine's always been ahead of the curve on this stuff.
We've hosted over 50,000 guests from 67 countries. Every single one leaves a piece of their story here, and honestly, that's the real luxury.
Look, we could throw around words like "curated experiences" and "bespoke service," but that's not really us. Here's the real deal – we want you to show up stressed, leave relaxed, and maybe book another stay before you even check out.
Our staff isn't trained to be robots – they're encouraged to be themselves. That's why you'll get real conversations, not scripted greetings.
We built around the trees, not through them. The mountain's been here way longer than us – we're just borrowing the view.
Sure, we've got fancy stuff, but it's all there for a reason. Egyptian cotton sheets because they feel amazing, not because they sound impressive.
From the coffee beans to the massage oils, we source locally whenever we can. Whistler's got incredible makers and we're here for it.
We listen to feedback – like, actually listen. That yoga deck? Guest idea. The late-night snack menu? Another guest suggestion.
Except this home has heated floors, mountain views, and someone else makes your bed. We think that's a pretty solid upgrade.
We've got about 85 people who make this place run, and yeah, they're kinda the best. From housekeeping to front desk to the kitchen crew – everyone's invested in making sure you have a good time.
Catherine's still involved in the day-to-day (you'll probably see her around), but she's built a team that genuinely loves what they do. That's not corporate speak – our turnover rate is ridiculously low because people actually want to work here.
We've got staff members who've been with us since day one, and they'll tell you stories about the early days that'll make you laugh. Ask Thomas at the concierge desk about the llama incident. Seriously, ask him.
Come Meet UsWhether it's a weekend escape or a longer retreat, we're ready when you are.
